Straying from the traditional acoustic singer-songwriter setup that has become the foundation of Troubadour Distillery Cork, we decided to take advantage of Jack’s musical prowess and talent.

Working closely with Jack, Into You transformed from a bouncy acoustic tune into a fully-fledged, one-man-band performance.

“I don’t ever plan the structure or vibe of the song,” says Jack. “I let it take shape itself, then try to colour between the lines.”

The gentle intro sets the listener up to expect a slow acoustic ballad – only to be revitalised by the groove of the verse.

“I’m a Dunnes boy, thick and thin… she keeps me up til’ six in the mornin’.”
The tongue-in-cheek nature of the lyrics lends itself perfectly to the laid-back vibe of the song.

Doing most of his writing in his garden shed, I find it extremely fitting that this song came to life in our shed – where Troubadour Distillery was founded.

Jack will be recording his debut EP with Troubadour in 2021. Being such a talented multi-instrumentalist will no doubt lend a sincere, honest tone to the songs. His Troubadour set is one of the most popular to date – a promising sign for the project, and we can’t wait to hear more of what he’s got in the pipeline.
