As a guitar player myself, I was sceptical of David Christy Jones’ setup when he arrived at the Troubadour Distillery set. Opting to use a tiny 1×3″ Blackstar amplifier rather than the Vox AC30 we provided, I thought he was a bit mad.

Needless to say, he knew exactly what he was doing.

Getting a huge sound from a tiny 1×3″ amp, the filthy guitar tone conjures images of the murky Louisiana swamp — also reflected in his vivid lyrics. His growling vocal is nothing short of residential to that area. Think Samuel L. Jackson in Black Snake Moan.

The gritty slide guitar line, coupled with the drop D chugging, is sure to make you grimace and groove at the same time.

Check out our most eccentric Troubadour Distillery Cork artist to date.
