I first heard of Gerald Ahern in 2018. As debut pop-rock single ‘Fish In The Sky’ made airwaves accross the country. In the time since, the Cork native has evolved and explored a range of different musical avenues.

It is clear Gerald keeps his finger on the pulse. Constantly moving and remaining relevant through seamless transition.

For instance, Gerald’s most recent studio release ‘Wrong’, focuses on a soundscape centered around production effects. A complelling but stark contrast from where Gerlad began.

However on the Troubadour set, I was glad to see Ger and bandmate Adam O’Mahony in a stripped back format. Something I am especially keen to hear as we go longer and longer without live gigs.

Gerald and Adam alike are ultimate professionals. Playing both songs with an ease and comfort like only dedictated musicians can.

‘It’s Okay Not To Be Okay’ explores mental health. A tough feat to pull off. Yet, Ger and Adam perfectly execute their performance and tastefully shed light on a relevant issue.
