Míde Houlihan
There is something darkly humorous about Míde Houlihan’s lyrics. Whenever an artist decides to cut the bravado and be brutally self-aware, it evokes a treasure trove of emotions.
“But the truth is clear like the drinks in our cups. We do this out of fear, we do this when we’re drunk.”
Yet humour isn’t by any means the main focal point of Míde’s song. Beneath her playful, party-scene imagery lies a sombre reflection on the familiar consensus that all good things come to an end.
“We get off on the stress / Where there’s no success / We are mostly worried / We are always sorry.”
Casting a gentle guitar tone and reeling the listener in with thought-provoking lyrics, it’s easy to see why Míde is the most established artist we’ve had on Troubadour to date.
