‘Mouldboi Junior’ is unquestionably the most bizarre name we’ve heard on Troubadour to date. But the fun doesn’t stop there.
Junior’s guitar style is up-beat and frantic while simuntanuesly steady and melodic. It carries a force of energy which is further amplified by a commanding vocal.
Performing with control and dotting his lyrics with Cork slang and settings:
‘You’ve been seeing other beours/I’m living like a true sham/Buy a house in Rochestown’
Junior’s words create a precise story, and instantly paint a particular picture for his audience.
The 19-year old has a clear sense of his identity and is able to express it tastefully in his songwriting. We look forward to seeing what lies ahead.
