As the weather improved and we see saw light at the end of the everlasting Level 5 lockdown, The Flavours provided a sound capturing the summer excitement.

Cookie Crumbles goes hand in hand with the kind of summery weather we dream about all year. It’s the ideal song to listen to while sinking bottles of Bulmers under a clear sky in Fitzgerald Park – or equally, it wouldn’t be amiss blaring from a speaker on a packed Fountainstown beach.

In other words, Cookie Crumbles provides the type of soundscape that goes hand in hand with good times and has the power to lighten anyone’s mood.

However, a deeper lyrical layer can be explored if the listener chooses.

The sky is pink and the clouds are grey / Wondering if there’s ever gonna be another way out.

To my ears, The Flavours paint a song about not wanting to be tied down – even when things are going well.

Yet it also has the maturity to appreciate what one has, and to realise the grass isn’t always greener.

A message all the clearer in Troubadour’s stripped-back acoustic format.

Be sure to check out The Flavours on Instagram, Facebook, and all streaming platforms – and make them part of your summer sound. 🙂
