Aubrey Hennessey’s fingerpicking is calm and controlled. Her voice, however, isn’t as easy to explain.
It certainly has an Irish flair — it trembles in the more emotive heights of the song, before suddenly flipping into a soothing, Eastern-like melody.
Longing for closure with a lost lover, imagined arguments, and “getting high off of words I’ve never said” — Aubrey doesn’t hide anything, simultaneously painting a very specific yet relatable state of mind.
Her guitar creates a steady surface, which allows Aubrey to express and navigate her voice freely.
Few and Far is well thought out, honest, poignant — and it is only the beginning for the young Glanmire native.
